The Yamaha Motif XS6 Synthesizer is an amazing piece of equipment. I can't believe the sound that comes out of this thing. It's a joy to play. Starting with just the simple parts - the 61 touch sensitive keys with initial touch and after touch are so smooth.
There's over 1,000 voices available, plus 64 drum kits. There are four musical arpeggiators with over 6,000 phrases. Even if you never got around to mixing and sampling, there's plenty here to keep a musician busy and inspired.
But of course you will get around to mixing and sampling. And on the Yamaha Motif XS6, you can spend a very long time doing that, before you reach the end of all this keyboard has to offer. The integrated sampler combines audio and MIDI recording. You can record as you play, trying out different motifs, slipping in any of the arpeggio phrases, and have it all captured to edit later, as you've discovered what worked and what didn't.

Of course, it is pricey, and if you're not willing to put the time in to really discover all this keyboard offers, you won't get your money's worth from it. You'll have to study the instrument.
