Roland Fantom XR Synthesizers

The Roland Fantom XR synthesizer is available in a rack-mount module offering over 1 GB of sound. There are three processors, 128 voices, elaborate EQs, and stereo sampling. Roland has recently created a new sound chip that provides better quality sound, more complex processing, expandable ROM, and loadable AIFF files.

For the warmth that usually encompasses Roland synths, the Fantom is no exception offering fat, warm tones that entice the ear. The module is designed for sequencing; therefore, it makes sense to midi it to any external device for real-time playing or programming.

Or, if using the Fantom keyboard, midi may not be necessary at all. Perhaps the best asset regarding the Fantom synthesizer is the effects processor that mimics skillfully quality guitars, pianos, strings, etc. There are a myriad of amp modelers available as well.

Furthermore, the Fantom comes with a mastering component for a more polished, finished sound: punchier bass-lines, balanced tracks, tighter, well-rounded sounds, and overall equality. The module and keyboard are both compatible with Mac software, and when used in that regard, there are virtually no limitations.

One cannot ignore the Fantom's sampling capabilities: once samples are cut from external devices, chopping and altering them are made extremely easy. Perhaps a sample has been taken, but the sound is not exactly what is desired; well, tweaking and adjusting the sound is simple and fun.

Don't fret if there are only rack-mount versions available because the same amazing sound is captured in the module form. It's also possible to upgrade sounds taken from CD ROMS and websites. This allows the Fantom to remain competitive while still retaining its classic analog sound.
